Life at Elthorne > Key Stage 3 (Years 7, 8 and 9)
Students study a broad and balanced curriculum across a range of subjects.
All students study English, Mathematics, Science, Computing, Art, Design Technology, Drama, Geography, History, Modern Foreign Languages, Music, Physical Education, Religious Studies and PSHCE.
Students are taught in mixed ability groups. In some subjects, Mathematics, Science and certain Modern Language groups, students are grouped in sets based on prior attainment.
The school operates a two-week timetable and there are twenty-five one-hour lessons per week.
Literacy and Numeracy are developed across the curriculum. Students who enter the school working at lower-than-expected levels in English and Mathematics are supported via additional Literacy and Numeracy groups.
A range of extracurricular activities are offered and taken up by a majority of students. These include homework and catch-up clubs, sporting and musical activities as well as a number of foreign exchanges, trips and school productions.
