We know that students need additional support and attention to fulfil their full potential. Students’ daily care and welfare is supported through the work of the school’s Tutor team and Year Learning Managers.
The aim of our pastoral system is to ensure that every child achieves and enjoys their time at our school.
A Form Tutor is assigned to each Tutor Group of approximately 30 students, sometimes supported by a co-Tutor. Each Year group has a Year Learning Manager and a team of Form Tutors.
The important work of the pastoral team helps the school to develop well-rounded young adults and develop a positive ethos within the school.
Tutors meets their tutees twice a day to:
Each tutor will support the learning and personal development needs of each child in their Tutor Group and is the first point of contact between school and home.
The tutor is responsible for tracking student progress, attendance, achievement and behaviour and providing mentoring and advice when required.
The tutor is also responsible for delivering the school’s PSHE programme. In addition the Tutor will contribute to assembly themes, supporting the wider personal development needs of each student.
The Form Tutor will deliver the school’s PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education) to their Tutees in the fortnightly PSHE lesson.
There will also be activities and discussions during Tutor time to reinforce our high standards of behaviour and conduct as well as to develop the students organisational and study skills.
The pastoral team work closely with students to engage them in a wide number of extra curricular activities, including inter-form, community and charitable events.
The school also has a popular Key Stage 4 Student Prefect group who effectively support the work of the pastoral team.
