Key Stage 3 (Year 7, 8, 9)
Students in Key Stage 3 have a broad and balanced curriculum across a range of different subjects. The school operates on a two-week timetable with twenty five, hour long lessons per week.
All students study English, Mathematics, Science, Computing, Art, Design Technology (Resistant materials, Graphics, Food Technology and Textiles), Drama, Geography, History, Modern Foreign Languages (students study one modern foreign language chosen from French, German or Spanish), Music, Physical Education, Religious Studies and PSHCE. Students are taught in mixed ability groups however in some subjects, such as Mathematics, students are grouped into sets based on prior attainment.
Literacy and Numeracy are developed across all curriculum subjects. Students who enter the school working at a lower-than-expected level in English and Mathematics are supported via additional Literacy and Numeracy groups. There is also a wide range of extracurricular activities on offer to students. These include- homework and catch-up clubs, sporting and musical activities as well as a number of foreign exchanges, trips and school productions.
