Information for Exam Groups and Careers Guidance
As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic all Summer examinations have been cancelled. In place of written examinations, the DfE have advised schools that they will be producing ‘calculated grades’ for each student informed by evidence including student performance in mock examinations and non-examination assessments such as coursework. Exam boards will combine this information with other data sources including prior data (possibly Year 6 test scores) to award a final grade that will be indistinguishable from grades awarded in previous years. The DfE have also suggested that students will have the opportunity to sit exams early in the next academic year if they wish to.
The DfE will share further guidance to schools about the process of fairly submitting evidence of student attainment at some point in the future.
Here is what the government has said on awarding qualifications in Summer 2020.
We are still awaiting more specific guidance on the process of awarding BTECs for Year 11 and Year 13 students and will update you when the process have been clarified by Ofqual and the relevant exam boards.
Whilst we await further guidance from DfE, there are some answers to anticipated questions that you may have at this time in the documents below.

I understand that this is a challenging time for parents, carers and students and will share further guidance on assessment when we have received further guidance from the DfE. I would like to take this opportunity to reiterate Mr Wong’s message from Friday 20th March and state how immensely proud the school is of the achievements of both Year 11 and Year 13 during their time at EPHS.
Please note that, despite current circumstances, Year 11 students requiring careers guidance/pathway advice at this time are still able to contact our Connexions Adviser Ms F. Barker directly at fbarker@ephs.ealing.sch.uk. Ms Barker will be able to offer specific guidance to individuals that are concerned about their next step.
