Key Stage 3 (Year 7, 8, 9)

Students in Key Stage 3 have a broad and balanced curriculum across a range of different subjects. The school operates on a two-week timetable with twenty five, hour long lessons per week.

All students study English, Mathematics, Science, Computing, Art, Design Technology (Resistant materials, Graphics, Food Technology and Textiles), Drama, Geography, History, Modern Foreign Languages (students study one modern foreign language chosen from French, German or Spanish), Music, Physical Education, Religious Studies and PSHCE. Students are taught in mixed ability groups however, in some subjects such as Mathematics, Science and certain Modern Languages, students are grouped into sets based on prior attainment.

In addition to these subjects, students in Year 7 and Year 8 have a weekly, hour long lesson called Enrichment. This lesson allows students to study subjects and develop skills outside of the traditional curriculum. There is a variety of options for students to choose from such as learning a second language or improving on reading skills.

Literacy and Numeracy are developed across all curriculum subjects. Students who enter the school working at a lower-than-expected level in English and Mathematics are supported via additional Literacy and Numeracy groups.

There is also a wide range of extracurricular activities on offer to students. These include- homework and catch-up clubs, sporting and musical activities as well as a number of foreign exchanges, trips and school productions.

If you would like to find out more about our curriculum, please contact Mr D. Eagleton (Assistant Headteacher in charge of Curriculum and Assessment).
