Competing at the England Athletics Indoor Championships in Sheffield, Year 9 Elthorne Park High School student Leila Newth equalled the under-15 girls all time UK indoor triple jump record. Her third jump of 11m48cm matched Amy Williams’ previous best ever jump to claim gold.
The Championship best leap puts Leila in the UK top 9 ever U15 triple jumps (indoor and outdoor). Extending her personal best of 11m03, the triple jump gold topped off a successful weekend in which she also claimed a silver medal in the U15 high jump, clearing 1m57cm. Leila competes for Ealing, Southall and Middlesex Athletics Club.
