The Performance corner

We love Performing Arts at Elthorne! If you have the desire to nurture and develop your talent in a fun environment, then you can get involved in one of our exciting projects!

The latest performance opportunities:

For all you Music heads...

The Eltones: Tuesdays 3.15-4.15pm

The Eltones is an inclusive vocal ensemble - students can get together to sing new and popular songs.

Students can develop/improve upon their vocal technique and ensemble skills. It's a great way to make new friends in a fun and relaxed setting.

We aim to perform in most of the school music events throughout the academic year, so there will be opportunities to perform to a live audience.

Students from all year groups are welcome!

Orchestra: Wednesdays, 3.15pm-4.15pm

Orchestra is an ensemble open to all pupils who play orchestral instruments. We cover a range of classical repertoire to enable students to develop their ensemble playing skills. Again, It's a great way to make new friends and nurture your talent. There will be opportunities to perform to live audiences.

For the thespians out there...

The Elthorne Shakespeare Festival: Thursdays, 3.15-4.45pm

In January we begin rehearsing for the Elthorne Shakespeare Festival! Students work on various extracts from iconic plays to create performances that will feature in a night of Shakespeare. Students are welcome to do monologues, duologues or group pieces. As well as the traditional, we love to use movement, dance, sound and lighting to create abstract and visually interesting versions of Shakespeare's works. The project is a fun, collaborative and positively challenging process. All students are welcome. The project will be launched on SMHW.

The Whole School Musical!! Tuesdays & Thursdays 3.15-5pm

After February half term, we launch the biggest whole-school event in the calendar - our annual Musical!

Students who are interested in being involved as an actor, singer and/or dancer will be required to sign up via SMHW. Those who wish to be considered for a main role and/or dancer will need to audition. This will involve preparing a short scene and a song from the show. If you are a musician, there are opportunities to be part of the band. This exciting and truly uplifting project brings the school community together and serves as a perfect way to end the academic year!

We have our Christmas Performing Arts Showcase happening at the end of term. If you are interested in taking part, please see Ms Joseph in FO1. 🙂
