Enrichment
Enriching Your Sixth Form Experience
Elthorne Park Sixth Form is a demanding and rigorous academic environment, but we firmly believe that education extends far beyond textbooks and exams. There are many exciting opportunities for students at Elthorne to develop their existing talents further and ignite new passions outside of their classroom study.
Elthorne offers an impressive range of extracurricular activities, catering to diverse interests. Whatever your interests, you'll find a vibrant community to join here. From sports teams and music groups to engaging language clubs and our much-anticipated annual school musical, there's something for everyone. We also actively encourage Sixth Formers to take initiative by establishing their own societies and supporting teachers in leading clubs for younger students, fostering leadership and community spirit.
Our timetabled enrichment lessons are highly valued by students, and are designed to equip you with essential skills for higher education and the professional world.
Year 12 offers a rotation of activities, encompassing physical activity/sport, oracy development to hone your communication skills, and crucial life skills such as practical cooking and financial planning.
Year 13 focuses on advanced academic mentoring and study skills sessions, which may include inspiring guest speakers who share insights from various fields.
Elthorne Wider Opportunities Days (EWOD) are dedicated, timetable-free days that allow Post-16 students to engage in more significant trips, visits, and experiences. Past EWOD highlights have included:
-
Visits to the "What University? & What Career? Live" conference.
-
Engaging team-building escape room activities.
-
Insightful university taster days.
-
Valuable mock interviews and employability workshops.

Expanding Horizons: Subject-Based Trips & Expeditions
In addition to our core enrichment programme, Sixth Form students benefit from an exciting range of subject-based trips and expeditions, both within the UK and internationally. In the past year alone, our students have:
-
Immersed themselves in London's vibrant arts scene with visits to theatres, the BFI, and renowned art exhibitions and galleries.
-
Engaged in challenging outdoor pursuits through Duke of Edinburgh expeditions.
-
Conducted vital research on Geography field trips.
-
Explored rich cultural destinations abroad, with recent visits to Seville and Paris.
Leadership Opportunities
As a member of our Sixth Form, you'll have numerous opportunities to develop your leadership potential. At the end of Year 12, students can apply to join the highly regarded Senior Student Leadership Team (SSLT). This significant role allows you to make a significant and tangible contribution to the Sixth Form, the wider school, and our community. Beyond the SSLT, there are other impactful leadership positions available, such as peer or subject mentors for students in the younger years, fostering a supportive and collaborative environment.
