Careers (CEIAG)
The EPHS Careers Programme
At Elthorne Park High School, careers education is a journey that begins early and evolves with each student. Our programme is built on the principles of equity, opportunity, and inclusion - celebrating diversity, challenging stereotypes, and encouraging all students to aim high. From Year 7 through to Year 13, students are offered a wide range of opportunities to explore future pathways, gain real-world experience, and make informed, confident decisions about their next steps.
Ms A Crix is our Careers Lead and supports staff across the school to use their expert subject knowledge and experience when offering young people the opportunity to discuss their futures. Whether this is through our PSHCE programme or as part of curriculum lessons, our students recognise the links between their education and future prospects. As well as our in-house support, we work closely with Connexions, a specialist Ealing-based IAG service. As part of this partnership, we’re pleased to welcome Mr Bishop into the school twice a week, where he provides one-to-one Personal Guidance sessions and impartial careers advice, helping students make informed decisions.
Our careers programme is guided by the eight Gatsby Benchmarks. These help us ensure every student receives high-quality, meaningful support at every stage of their journey. We regularly review provision through half-termly audits to ensure it meets the evolving needs of our students. Our partners at the Educational Development Trust (EDT) support us in analysing the results and refining our offer. Feedback from both students and employers who participate in careers events plays a key role in shaping and improving the programme.
Elthorne Park High School Career Programme 2024 - 2025
Unifrog:
Elthorne Park High School is a proud partner of Unifrog. This online careers platform brings together the latest information on university courses, apprenticeships, and career pathways – helping students explore options, set goals, and build strong applications with confidence. The tools on offer help students track their research; participate in experiences such as virtual work experience; complete quizzes and testing; and draft applications such as UCAS personal statements or CVs.
Work Experience:
Engaging with employers and building professional networks is a key part of preparing for the world of work. As part of our careers programme, students are expected to organise their own three-day, in-person work experience placement, taking place in March for Year 12 and July for Year 10. To support this, the school offers guidance on writing CVs and cover letters, and maintains links with a wide network of local employers who may be able to provide meaningful placements.
Provider Access & Employer Support:
We are fully compliant with the latest Provider Access Legislation (formerly known as The Baker Clause). This means students from Year 7 to Year 13 have access to a range of education and training providers, who help them explore technical, vocational, and academic pathways.
We are always looking to further develop our CEIAG provision and work with new providers, employers, parents and professionals. If you are interested in any of the opportunities below, please contact the careers lead:
- Address a year group of students in assembly (08:45-09:10)
- Run a workshop about your job/industry/pathway to employment
- Talk to students studying a subject that links to your career
- Conduct mock interviews
- Participate in our annual careers fair
- Offer work placements or shadowing opportunities to students
- Take students on a tour of your workplace.
Further details of opportunities to contribute to our programme can be found in our Provider Access Statement.

We understand the importance of keeping both students and parents informed about opportunities for progression and development. Careers-related opportunities are regularly shared with students during tutor time and via the Show My Homework (SMHW) platform. Parents are also invited to attend CEIAG workshops in school, and we signpost a range of recommended online resources to support conversations at home.
